This month I have abandoned
my planned introduction so that I may mark the passing two weeks ago
of Howard J. Smith, one of Marsh-McBirney's first sales
representatives. Howard, who was 85 years young, was one of our most
successful and memorable sales representatives. His company
represented us in parts of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and
Delaware from 1976 through 1998. Anyone who ever met Howard surely
remembers him.
Sales
representatives are an invaluable resource to companies like ours
and to customers like you. The best ones (like Howard) spend
countless hours on the road meeting with engineers, administrators,
and end users of our products. They teach, train and provide local
support to you while also maintaining a continuous flow of
information between a manufacturer and its customers.
Howard retired
from sales four years ago. At the age of 80 (really!) he reluctantly
gave up what he loved so much - the daily contact with his customers
and with us at Marsh-McBirney. From all accounts however, he lived
his retirement as fully and energetically as he lived his career. He
remains an inspiration to us all.

U.S. COUNTY IS FIRST IN FLOW
ALSO New Castle County Delaware holds the
distinction of being the first county in the first state of
the original 13 U.S. colonies. They were also among the first
municipalities to effectively combine Flo-Dar flowmeters with
an existing fleet of Flo-Totes and Flo-Mates to monitor many
of the county's 40,000 manholes. |

DESERT CITY GRAVITATES TO
SAVINGS The City of Tempe's Johnny G.
Martinez Water Treatment Plant saves the city money due to
its entirely gravity-fed design. When they needed to monitor
flow in pipes with challenging monitoring characteristics the
City chose Multi-Mags for accuracy and continued cost savings.
