It's certainly been a remarkable month since our last newsletter. The past four weeks have brought us, among other things, a presidential election and a devastating east coast storm dubbed Superstorm Sandy. I'm sure a significant number of our readers were directly affected by Sandy and more than a few were probably very busy keeping the local infrastructure intact during and immediately following the storm. Thank you for that by the way.
One interesting aspect of the storm was the fact that Hach has a large number of Data Delivery Services flow meters deployed throughout Sandy's impact area. It was a unique test of both the reliability of our product as well as the robustness of the web-based remote data features that our customers have come to rely upon. Those of us at Hach (like me) lucky enough to reside outside the mid-Atlantic region during the storm were able to watch the dramatic flow increases in a number of sanitary sewer systems as they became inundated with stormwater. I posted a screen shot
of one data set on my blog if you're interested.
To our readers in the US I hope you enjoy next week's Thanksgiving holiday and the inevitable short work week many of us will have. If your holiday takes you away from home I wish you safe travels as well!
