In The Know On Flow

A Note From Kevin Marsh

33College hoops season is underway and many of you are aware how happy this makes me. If it's going to get dark at 4:00 PM at least I can sit on the sofa on any given night and find a good basketball game on TV. This year is off to a great start. I got lucky at a recent charity auction and made the winning bid on four tickets to the ESPN Classic held last week in Chicago. This was one evening and two games - Kentucky vs. Michigan State followed by Kansas vs. Duke. That's four of the top-five teams in the country (prior to the games anyway). You may remember that my father Larry (founder of Marsh-McBirney) is a Kentucky native. I've always wanted to attend a Wildcat basketball game with him so he met me in Chicago for the fun (photo) . Though they rallied from a significant halftime deficit, Kentucky lost to a very solid Michigan State team. Disappointed father. Kansas, on the other hand, surprised a lot of folks and beat Duke pretty soundly. Happy son. There's a long season and lots of ups and downs ahead. I can't wait!

Speaking of Larry Marsh... I wonder how many of you know that, even though now retired, he is the designer of one of our newest and most popular products? The Hach FH950 Handheld Flow Meter (see feature article below) is the latest in a storied line of handheld, portable velocity meters originally manufactured by Marsh-McBirney. Larry clearly wanted his last flow meter design to be impactful and put an amazing amount of energy and creativity into engineering a product that was technology forward without losing sight of the accuracy and dependability that our customers have enjoyed for over 30 years. I spent much of my personal career selling its predecessor - the FLO-MATE Model 2000. If you own one of those (and it seems like everyone in the industry does) you'll want to check out the Hach FH950. In fact, if you have any end-of-year money to spend I promise this will be a great and satisfying investment. You know where to find me.

Until next month...
